Pakistan set to release Taliban prisoners in step towards peace

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan said on Saturday it was releasing a group of Afghan Taliban in order to assist the nascent Afghan peace process, in what may be a step towards improving the troubled relationship between the South Asian neighbors.
The Pakistani foreign ministry said Islamabad was freeing seven Afghan Taliban. The release followed a trip late last month by Afghan President Hamid Karzai to Pakistan, where he expressly sought the release of some Afghan insurgents.
