Nike pledges to end toxic waste dumping

Sports giant Nike pledged on Thursday to stop dumping hazardous materials into the rivers of China, where most of the company's production occurs, by 2020, five weeks after NGO Greenpeace  published a "dirty laundry" report criticizing such practices of several companies, the environmental organization announced that afternoon.
Two other companies included in the report were Puma and Adidas, the second of which was pressured by Greenpeace with stadium messages during the Madrid-Barcelona Champions Cup game on Wednesday night, a statement from Greenpeace said.
"Water pollution is not fair play," the message read. "The world needs more champions."
