Court accepts Ramat Gilad agreement

The High Court of Justice on Tuesday accepted an agreement reached between settlers and the state to delay the demolition of nine structures on the Ramat Gilad outpost in the West Bank that were built on private Palestinian property.

The state had told the court that Ramat Gilad residents had agreed to remove the homes by March 2012, and that therefore there was no need for the state to heed its pledge to the court to remove the homes by the end of December 2011.

Settlers claim that in exchange the state will approve a zoning plan for the portion of the outer edge of the Karnei Shomron settlement in which Ramat Gilad is located.

Such a move would retroactively legalize the outpost. But no such pledge exists in the court documents.
