In Cairo, Bahrain and Egypt discussed the desire for calm in Gaza and putting an end to “ongoing regional tension.” The two sides agreed on the urgent need to exert efforts towards de-escalations.
Hamas "continues to exploit tensions with Iran and seeks... escalation in the region," the PMO stated.
Hamas reiterated their demands including a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, a return of the displaced, and a prisoner-hostage exchange.
The protesters were charged with spreading false information and joining a terror group.
Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday during which they discussed ongoing hostage negotiations and the round of talks in Cairo.
"Israel expects the mediators to work harder with Hamas to promote negotiations in favor of a deal," Netanyahu's office said in a statement.
Egypt has played a key role in the aftermath of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
The Mossad charged that Hamas is seeking to escalate tensions ahead of Ramadan at the expense of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas senior official: It is now in the hands of the Americans if they are serious about achieving a ceasefire before Ramadan.
The unfolding tragedy in Gaza, exacerbated by the stalemate in ceasefire talks, necessitates an urgent reevaluation of Hamas’s negotiation strategies.
