Shahar Pe'er advanced to the second round of the Estoril Open in Portugal on Tuesday, taking 12 games in a row after dropping the first set to Michelle Larcherdo Brito. Pe'er (54 in the world), who defeated the Portuguese teenager 4-6, 6-0, 6-0, faces Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova (76) in the second round. Also Tuesday, Dudi Sela (59) cruised into the second round of the Ramat Hasharon Challenger tournament, defeating Davis Cup teammate Noam Okun (333) 6-1, 6-1. "I returned Noam's serve well and he couldn't get into the match," said Sela, who is seeded number 1 in the tournament. Harel Levy (250) surprised fourth seed Michael Berrer (116) in the first round, winning 6-4, 6-4.
