Andreas Haider-Maurer of Austria defeated Dutchman Thiemo De Bakker 6-4, 6-4 in the final of the $10,000 Ramat Hasharon ATP Futures tournament on Saturday.
Haider-Maurer, who is ranked 505 in the world, will also take part in the Futures event that begins in Hadar Yosef on Monday and could well meet De Bakker once again. The 18-year-old, who is the world's number one junior player, is making his first steps on the ATP circuit and has already shown plenty of promise.
Nicole Thyssen (467) of the Netherlands won the woman's tournament on Saturday by defeating Portuguese Neuza Silva (495) 6-2, 6-4.
