Ido Avron won the Wilson Israel Open Squash Championships at the Herzliya Squash Center last week, becoming the first player to win both the Senior and Junior titles in the same year. Avon defeated his coach, Dove Haruzi in the final. Third place in the Open went to Nadav Wilensky, who won the title last year. Haruzi won the final of the over-35 age category, defeating Gal Lev-Ran, who had held the over-35 title for the past 11 years. However, Lev-Ran won the over-45 age category when his opponent in the final, Tzemach Meir, had to withdraw due to sickness. Meir also withdrew from the final of the over-50 age category, the title being taken by Ilan Shimony. Reuven Miterani won the over-55 category, beating Chillick Greenblatt in the final. Greenblatt was also a finalist in a separate special-rules competition for the over-50s, which was won by Stanley Milliner. Trophies were presented to the first three players in each category by Steven Kantor, chairman of the Israel Squash Rackets Association.
