Despite her disappointing first-round exit in the singles tournament, Shaher Pe’er is intent on extending her stay at the All England Club deep into the second week of Wimbledon, advancing in both the women’s doubles and mixed doubles tournaments on Monday.Pe’er and Cara Black, seeded 14th, beat Americans Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears 6-2, 6-3 Monday, but will face a far sterner test in the last 16 when they play No. 2 seeds Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik.Pe’er also continued to have success with Yoni Erlich in the mixed doubles, progressing to the third round with a 6-3, 6-1 win over No. 5 seeds Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Peschke.The Israeli duo will next play the winner of the match between Brits Colin Fleming and Jocelyn Rae and No. 10 seeds Dick Norman and Lisa Raymond for a place in the quarterfinals.Andy Ram is also sticking around SW19 after reaching the last 16 of the mixed doubles on Monday.Ram and Meghann Shaughnessy, seeded No. 15, beat locals Kenneth Skupski and Elena Baltacha 6-4, 6-4 on Monday.Next up is a meeting with either No. 2 seeds Max Mirnyi and Yaroslava Shvedova or Paul Hanley and Su-Wei Hsieh.
