Israel’s Hagar Finer retained the WIBF Bantamweight World Championship with a unanimous decision on Saturday night, defeating Julia Sahin of Germany in the Rama Casino in Ontario, Canada.
After an even-sided first round, Finer asserted her domination and began to pound Sahin.
Finer was the more aggressive fighter and in the end the judges saw it 98-92, 97-92, and 96-94 for the Israeli, who improves to 22-7-3, while Sahin dropped to 20-2-0.
Finer’s first real international success came when she won the WIBF Inter-Continental and WIBA European Super Flyweight titles in a unanimous decision in March 2006, before capturing the WIBF Bantamweight title in October 2009, a belt she defended successfully at the Nokia Arena in Tel Aviv this April.
