Saudi Arabia beheaded two border guards for drug trafficking on Monday, the Interior Ministry said.
Moayd bin Yahya al-Waeli and Mehdi bin Hamad al-Mansour were convicted of trafficking an undisclosed quantity of hashish, the ministry said in a statement.
They were executed in the northern city of Hail. Their executions brought to five the number of people beheaded in the kingdom this year. Saudi executions are performed with a sword and in public as a deterrent.
The kingdom beheaded 83 people in 2005 and 35 people in 2004.
