PA president says no progress in talks with Israel

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said on Saturday that nothing has been achieved in the peace talks with Israel. Abbas and chief Palestinian negotiation, Ahmed Qureia, spoke Saturday at a gathering of leaders of their Fatah movement on Saturday. A participant in the meeting relayed their remarks on Sunday. According to the report, Abbas said he rejected any attempts to delay negotiations over the core issues in the conflict. Israel has said the fate of Jerusalem would be put off until later in the US-backed talks. The sides have set a year-end target for reaching an accord, though both have suggested that is optimistic. Qureia said that the Palestinians would only accept a comprehensive deal, the source reported.
