Officials: One killed, 2 hurt in gunfight in south Lebanon refugee camp

Security officials said that a shootout between Lebanese troops and militants on the edge of a Palestinian refugee camp on Wednesday night has left a gunman dead and two soldiers wounded. According to officials, the shooting occurred when gunmen riding in a car opened fire as they tried to run away from an army checkpoint at an entrance to the Ein el-Hilweh camp in southern Lebanon. They said soldiers returned fire, killing one of the gunmen and injuring another. An army officer and a soldier were wounded in the gunfight. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.
