Lebanese Druse leader says clashes in mountains threat to peace

Druse leader Walid Jumblatt says heavy clashes in Lebanon's central mountains are threatening peace and called on his main Druse opponent to halt the violence. Clashes in the mountains above Beirut between Jumblatt's supporters and allies of Hizullah have escalated dramatically in the Druse stronghold Sunday. Jumblatt called on his traditional Druse rival Talal Erslan to negotiate an end to the fighting and for the army to put the area under its control.
