Hamas will stop firing rockets into Sderot if Israel ceases its military attacks on Palestinians, a senior Hamas official said Monday. The statement by Mohammed Nazzal, a member of Hamas' political bureau, came a day after Sderot mayor of the southern Israeli town, Eli Moyal, said he was prepared to meet with Hamas if that would get the rocket assaults to stop. Sderot is the most frequent target of rocket attacks from Gaza. "Hamas is ready to calm down and to stop firing rockets on Sderot if Israel stops its aggression" against the Palestinian people, Nazzal said to The Associated Press by telephone. "The message is clear and doesn't require an agreement," said Nazzal who was speaking from Lebanon.
