Car bombs near airport bring Baghdad toll to 26

Two suicide car bombs exploded Sunday near a main checkpoint leading to Baghdad's international airport, killing 14 Iraqis and injuring at least another six in the latest attack on the airport road, the US military and Iraqi police said. That attack, along with five roadside bombs, killed a total of 26 people and injured at least 66 in the Iraqi capital. The US military said that "based on initial reporting, the terrorists blew themselves up in a parking lot east of the Coalition Forces base." It said the attack took place in a near its Camp Victory but that it was "not an attack on the compound. Instead, it targeted Iraqis congregated in a parking lot."
