Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is in Rome for talks with Italy's top officials, on the day Israel is holding general elections.
Abbas was scheduled to meet Tuesday with Premier Silvio Berlusconi and President Giorgio Napolitano. Italian officials say he is not scheduled to speak to the media.
Abbas is on a European tour that includes stops in France, Britain, Turkey and Poland.
