The Arab League said Tuesday it would indefinitely postpone the first annual “Conference on Defending Jerusalem,” scheduled to begin in Qatar the same day, due to the precarious situation in Egypt and some other Arab countries, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.
Muhammad Soubie, an assistant to the Arab League secretary-general, announced the postponement in a statement after a series of consultations between the emirate and the Arab bloc.

The inaugural two-day event was scheduled to take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Doha.
Delegates to last year’s Arab summit in Libya elected to hold an annual international conference that would include Arab and foreign countries and civil institutions, to discuss defending Jerusalem “against Israeli violation at all levels.”
