State Comptroller Micha Lindenstraus denied reports last week that he had summoned Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for questioning regarding allegations he received a discount of some half a million dollars in return for using his connections to help a contractor who sold him an apartment.
According to the allegations, first raised by journalist Yoav Yitzhak, the Olmerts paid $1.2 million, two-thirds of the market price, for an apartment on Cremieux Street in Jerusalem's German Colony neighborhood. In return, Olmert, a former mayor of Jerusalem, allegedly persuaded the municipality to double the amount of floor space the contractor was permitted to build on the site.
Lindenstraus said the matter was under investigation.
