Supreme court extends prison sentence of elderly woman's attacker
By JPOST.COM STAFF
The Supreme Court on Wednesday extended the prison sentence of Arik Schechter, 25, who was convicted in September of the robbing and beating of senior citizen Ita Fogel, from 11 to 13 years. The court also added a two-year suspended sentence.
In doing so, the court accepted the prosecution's appeal over the initial sentence, and rejected Schechter's appeal which maintained that the punishment was too severe.
