Police up alert level in Sharon region

Area terror threat considered general and not of the highest level.

Police upped its level of alert in the Sharon region on Monday morning due to warnings that a terrorist would attempt to infiltrate Israel and commit an attack. Security officials suspected that a potential attacker would infiltrate Israel via the village of Taybe situated on the green line in central Israel.

Police forces were increasing the amount of patrols being conducted in more populated sectors of the Sharon area. The alert level was not of the highest level and was reflective of a general and not specific threat. Roadblocks were also set up at the entrances to major cities in the Sharon area. As a result, traffic delays were expected, Israel Radio reported.
