Peretz: Non-conventional threats can't be ignored

Hinting at a possible nuclear or chemical strike against Israel, Defense Minister Amir Peretz warned Tuesday that the IDF should not ignore looming non-conventional threats while dealing with the immediate problem of Kassam rockets and Katyusha missiles. "While dealing with the immediate threats from the Kassams and Katyushas, we need to keep in mind that a non-conventional threat looms in the horizon," Peretz said during a tour of a Homefront Command training base near Rishon Lezion. Peretz said that Homefront Command had become one of IDF's most essential organizations since war in Lebanon, and needed to prepare and train for various threats originating from different sectors that Israel could face.
