NII: 1/4 of Israeli families below poverty line

The poverty report from the National Insurance Institute (NII), to be published Wednesday afternoon, shows that every fourth family in Israel is below the poverty line, Army Radio reported. The population consistently affected is that of impoverished families with children. In 2005, stipends for children were cut by 9%, adding to a general cutback of 50% over the past few years.
