Nigerians, Egyptian attempt to infiltrate Israel

Egyptian border guards have arrested two Nigerians and an Egyptian who allegedly tried to cross illegally into Israel, a police official said Saturday. The two Nigerians, who were being chased by guards late Friday, were injured in the face and neck by barbed wire at the borderline, Capt. Muhammad Badr of the North Sinai police said. They were taken to an el-Arish hospital for treatment, he added. The Egyptian, identified as Reda Muhammad, 30, told police that he was planning to go to Israel to search for work and had paid money to Bedouin to help him cross into Israel, Badr said. Two weeks ago, border guards arrested two other Nigerians, who allegedly paid $2,000 to Bedouin smugglers to help them cross into Israel.
