Man hit by train; Witnesses say he didn't run away

A pedestrian was run over by a train on Thursday evening in the Ganei Aviv neighborhood in Lod. Witnesses reported that the man stood on the tracks and did not try to escape the oncoming locomotive. Army Radio reported that the man was declared dead when MDA arrived at the scene. Earlier this week a train crashed into a transport van that stalled on the tracks near Binyamina; a high death count was avoided because the van's passengers escaped before the accident. A few weeks ago a blind man was killed when he fell out of a train before it came to a complete stop and so was trapped under the locomotive.
