Jerusalem police lifted a state of high alert declared in the capital, after maintaining it for several hours Wednesday morning. The alert level was raised in the wake of intelligence warnings over an impending terror attack in the city, police said. For several hours, police conducted spot checks on vehicles at the entrances to the city, causing unusually heavy traffic congestion in the capital, and increased border police patrols on the northern and southern outskirts of the city. Magen David Adom rescue services also went on the highest state of alert following the police announcement. Nevertheless, Police were still maintaining a heightened level of alert in the capital.
