Islamic Jihad leader killed in clash with IDF

IDF soldiers shot and killed an Islamic Jihad leader in the West Bank city of Nablus early Friday, the insurgent group and the army said. Palestinians said IDF soldiers entered the Old City of Nablus in a civilian vehicle and shot dead Read Abu Ads, 34, the Islamic Jihad commander in Nablus. The army said soldiers surrounded a house and demanded that the insurgent surrender. Instead, he tried to escape, and soldiers shot him. Palestinians said the IDF sent about 20 jeeps and a bulldozer into the city after the incident. The military said the operation was still in progress.
