Hundreds of junior lecturers fired from Israeli universities

Barely a week after the senior lecturers' strike ended, Israel's universities laid off hundreds of junior lecturers have been laid off due to the postponement of the second semester. The lecturers, who did not strike and held classes throughout the passing semester as per their schedule, were fired without compensation, and will only be employed again when school commences in the summer. Army Radio reported that the junior faculty declared a labor dispute in protest of the universities firing them at the end of every school year. The junior faculty is employed for only eight months out of the year and is then laid off without compensation.
