Hirchson fined NIS 7,784 for too many absences from Knesset sessions

The Knesset's Ethics Committee decided, Wednesday, to fine former finance minister and Kadima MK Avraham Hirchson NIS 7,783 for not attending more than half Knesset sessions. Hirchson was absent 12 sessions more than the maximum allowed, and reasoned his absence with the police investigation in his case. The committee rejected Hirchson's claims, saying they did not constitute a valid reason for his frequent absences. MK Avigdor Yitzhaki, also of Kadima, was reprimanded for being absent from five sessions above the allowed limit, while Binyamin Ben Eliezer (labor) who was absent from six sessions over the limit was not punished by the committee.
