Greek police have found the body of an Israeli businessman who went missing two weeks ago, and have arrested four Greek men on murder charges, authorities said Sunday.
Israeli diamond dealer Shmuel Levy, 66, disappeared after arriving in Athens on Oct. 10.
His body was found Saturday in a metal trunk at the entrance of an old silver mine at Agios Konstantinos in the port town of Lavrio, 50 kilometers (30 miles) southwest of Athens, police said. Levy died from multiple blows to the head with a wrench.
Police said the suspects, which included a 35-year-old lapidary expert and a 22-year-old business associate in Athens, said they killed Levy because they believed he was carrying diamonds.
Levy, a Jerusalem resident who holds Israeli and US passports, was to spend two days on business in Athens and then return home, his family said.
The merchant's belongings, including a cell phone, were found in his rented Athens apartment, police said.
