Grave at historic Jewish cemetery in Hebron desecrated

A grave was desecrated in an historic Jewish Cemetery in the Tel Rumeida section of Hebron on Sunday. Jewish residents of Hebron said that they had found the bones of an animal head placed on one tombstone, a tombstone moved from its original resting place, and a holder for a memorial candle damaged. David Wilder, a spokesman for Hebron's Jewish community said that desecrations of the cemetery, whose oldest known grave dates to 1578, are an all-too frequent occurrence and that they had, in the past, requested that the area be more heavily guarded. Samaria and Judea District Police confirmed that a grave had been moved, and said that they had been alerted to the incident by the IDF's Judea Brigade. Hebron Subdistrict police have opened an investigation into the incident.
