Geriatrics caretaker held for stealing from elderly patients in her care

A 53-year-old Israeli woman who worked as a geriatrics caregiver at a Jerusalem welfare hospital is under arrest for allegedly stealing money from elderly patients under her care, police said. The woman, Ariella Nachum, who worked in the city's Misgav Ladach Hospital, is suspected of stealing both checks and credit cards from her patients, and then running up bills in the tens of thousands of shekels, Jerusalem police spokesman Asi Aharoni said. A police search of her house uncovered an array of checks and credit cards. The suspect was remanded in custody for five days Wednesday by a Jerusalem court.
