Beilin drops out of race to lead Meretz, supports Haim Oron

Meretz Chairman Yossi Beilin on Sunday announced that he was dropping out of the race for the party leadership, and would thus leave his post following the March 2008 primaries.
Beilin expressed his support for the candidacy of MK Haim Oron, who he said shared his political agenda.
Beilin noted that he did not intend to leave the Knesset for the time being.
