Barak: Lieberman's comments an 'unjustified blow' to relations with Egypt
By JPOST.COM STAFF
Comments that Israel Beiteinu chair Avigdor Lieberman made regarding Egypt on Saturday were "without authority," according to Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
In a statement put out by his office, Barak called Lieberman's comments "an unjustified blow to the fragile and important web of relations with Egypt."
"The peace with Egypt is a strategic asset for the State of Israel. Egypt is a responsible and important factor in the Middle East."
Lieberman spoke out against Egypt in an interview with Channel 2 earlier on Saturday evening, claiming that Cairo was "waiting for an opportunity" to deploy troops in the Sinai.
