Baghdad: Eight killed in bombings; 16 kidnapped

Explosions killed eight people in Baghdad on Sunday, six of them when a parcel blew up in a central market and two when a bomb went off in a minibus in the east of the capital, police said. At least 22 people were wounded. A former military officer, meanwhile, was gunned down outside his home in Mosul, 360 kilometers northwest of Baghdad, according to police Col. Abdul-Karim Ahmed.
