63-year-old attacked in Atarot Industrial Zone; Police: Assault terror-related.

Shimon Ran, 63, of Jerusalem, was seriously wounded early Tuesday morning when he was stabbed by a terrorist in the Atarot Industrial Zone on the outskirts of Jerusalem, police and rescue officials said. The attacker fled.
According to an initial police investigation, the terrorist approached Ran from behind and stabbed him in the shoulder as he was getting something out of his car. Ran, who felt a pain in his back, turned around and noticed a young Arab fleeing the scene.

Danny Rotenberg, the Magen David Adom paramedic who treated Ran, said that he found him lying on his abdomen with a 20-cm-long knife lodged in his back. Ran, a factory worker, was rushed to Hadassah-University Hospital, Ein Kerem, with the knife still in his back.
Police backed by a police chopper were immediately dispatched in an effort to nab the attacker. Several suspects were later arrested in the area, Jerusalem police spokeswoman Sigal Toledo said.
The area in question, which lies adjacent to the West Bank, has been the site of several terror-related attacks against Jewish workers.
