Two illegal Palestinian workers were lightly to moderately wounded on Monday night during a police chase between Kibbutz Lahav, in the Negev, and the Eshkolit neighborhood. The Palestinians were traveling from the southern Hebron Hills in the West Bank when their car approached a Border Police checkpoint. The border policemen signaled to the driver to stop, but he refused and even tried to ram one of the police cars. Other Border Police forces then set up checkpoints in the area in order to stop the vehicle, but the driver broke through one of them and nearly hit the police officers stationed there. The officers then fired at the wheels of the car and the driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned. One of the Palestinians was moderately wounded by gunfire, and the other was in light condition after receiving a blow to his head. The two were evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba. The Border Police said that its forces were searching for a third man who fled from the car toward the Palestinian territories.
