Several religious Jewish youths attacked a 16-year-old girl in Tiberias on Wednesday night because she was wearing a sleeveless shirt, which they deemed immodest, northern district police said on Thursday.
The boys shouted to the girl that she was not dressed modestly and at a certain stage some of them approached and attacked her, according to police.
Police forces were dispatched to the scene, collected findings, searched for suspects and opened an investigation into the incident.
“The Israel Police regards any act of violence and bullying with severity, and will use all means to locate those offenders and bring them to justice,” the spokesman said.
