The Prime Minister called on Israelis to have fun in their, “wonderful, small land full of amazing viewpoints and historical sites,” as he and his wife enjoyed a summer afternoon in Israel’s Golan Heights.
“Tour, eat fish and travel— but most importantly, return home safely with your children,” Netanyahu added at the site overlooking the Sea of Galilee.

In light of the mood of the trip, Netanyahu joked that Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon should build "a roof," over the ruins, referring to the minister's recent housing plans.
Hippos, built 2,200 years ago, was used as a Syrian army post prior the 1948 War of Independence, and was later an IDF command post until the Six Day War.

What remains today at the site are mainly ruins from the Roman and Byzantine periods.
