One woman was pronounced dead Tuesday night and another woman was hospitalized early Wednesday. In both cases, the women's partners have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incidents that led to their death and injury.
A woman was brought to Soroka University Medical Center after suffering from burn injuries, according to Israel Police. After an initial investigation, the woman's husband, a 29-year-old resident of Tel Sheva, a Bedouin town bordering Beersheba, was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
The woman, whose burns cover 10% of her body, was treated in a trauma facility Wednesday morning.
In Tel Aviv, an 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead after being brought to Ichilov Hospital in critical condition, according to Israel police. The woman's 23-year-old partner was arrested and an investigation is ongoing.
Police suspect that the woman and her partner took drugs together and that she died due to an overdose or poisoning, according to Haaretz.
The police claimed that the woman's partner provided her with drugs and that there was a restraining order in effect that means the man should not have been near the woman, Walla News reported.  Police also said that the woman had been in rehabilitation approximately a month ago.
"I want to clarify that the suspect has been the partner of the deceased for the last three years, since she was a minor," said a police representative at the hearing on the partner's arrest, according to Walla News.
The police representative went on to explain that when the suspect could not reach the woman on the phone Tuesday, he asked a friend to check on her.
