1. THE BEAR NECESSITIES The film Goodbye Christopher Riobin is a British historical drama about the lives of Winnie-the-Pooh creator A. A. Milne and his family, especially his son Christopher Robin. It stars Domhnall Gleeson, Margot Robbie and Kelly Macdonald.
2. BEHIND THE HEADLINES Mammon is a popular Norwegian detective television series whose second season won Best Drama Series at this year’s International Emmys. This season starts off with the brutal killing of a journalist and focuses on the political struggle for power between the prime minister and his finance minister. The season also follows the adventures of journalist Peter Vers. With English subtitles.

3. HELD TO A HIGH STANDARD After international success and collaborations with musicians such as Iggy Pop and KT Tunstall, Keren Ann will perform with the Non Standards Project as part of the Jerusalem Jazz Festival at the Israel Museum. While Keren Ann works mainly in Paris and New York, her visits to Israel over the years have made their mark.
During her last visit, she appeared with Shlomi Shaban and Avishai Cohen in a well-received series of performances.

4. HOLY MOLY Canadian electronica band Holy F*** will perform at indie club Levontin 7 in Tel Aviv this week. The band is renowned for its use of live instrumentation and even non-instruments, such as a 35mm film synchronizer, toy keyboards and toy phaser guns. Since the band’s eponymous debut album in 2005, it has released three further albums and performed at Coachella, Lollapalooza and a variety of other music festivals.

5. GOING GLOCAL As part of the Israeli design season marking Israel’s 70th anniversary, the Beit Meirov Gallery in Holon is opening the exhibition “Glocal: Between Global and Local – Local and International Influences in Israeli Design.” In this exhibition, Israeli designers connect with the local, the global and the glocal (a combination of global and local) and examine how this phenomenon is reflected in various areas of design: fashion, industrial design, textile design and jewelry design.

6. THE ART OF NOW The exhibition “Current Affairs” at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art’s Helena Rubinstein Pavilion centers onsix large-scale murals created in the gallery space, offering an observation of the way in which art can capture something of the contemporary zeitgeist.
Accompanying the show will be various discussions with artists about how their work references current affairs.

7. PAYTON’S PLACE Grammy Award-winning trumpet player and multiinstrumentalist Nicholas Payton will perform with his trio as part of the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival. Born into a musical family in New Orleans, Payton fuses the traditions of his hometown with modern jazz, hip hop, mixtape and spoken-word cultures. He has recorded and performed with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Joshua Redman, Roy Hargrove and Joe Henderson.

8. ENJOY ETHIOPIAN ENTERTAINMENT In Amharic, the word hullegeb means “open to everyone.” That is the idea behind the eighth annual Hullegeb Israeli-Ethiopian Arts Festival, which will take place December 7 to 13 in Jerusalem. The week-long festival will consist of seven performances of theater, dance and music, each bringing something different to the stage, including a play performed by The Hullegeb Israeli-Ethiopian Theater, the festival’s main event. Opening the festival is a performance by veteran Ethiopian vocalist Getish Mamo.

9. WINDOW ON THE WORLD The International Photojournalism Exhibition World Press Photo, as well as the Israeli Local Testimony 2017, are on display at the Eretz Israel Museum. Dozens of photographers from Israel and abroad participate in the exhibitions, displaying a sequence of events in selected photographs taken over the past year. The photos refer to themes such as war and peace, politics and society, art and culture, nature and the environment, sports, portraits and multimedia presentations. Curator: Vardi Kahana.
