Suicide bomber kills 1 policeman, wounds 8 others in Afghanistan

A suicide bomber blew himself up in a housing compound in southern Afghanistan on Sunday, killing a policeman and wounding eight other people, including two children, a provincial police chief said. The bomber, with explosives vest strapped to his body, tried to enter the house of a regional police commander in the town of Lashkar Gah, in Helmand province, said the provincial police chief Mohammad Hussain Andiwal. Guards challenged the bomber, who then blew himself up, killing one policemen and wounding two children, four civilians and two other police officers, Andiwal said.
