Pakistani tailor's shop bombed for making Western-style clothes
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF
Suspected terrorists blew up a tailor's shop Thursday in northwest Pakistan for making Western clothes, an official said, in the latest attack on un-Islamic habits along the Afghan border.
The pre-dawn blast also damaged two other nearby shops in Kasi, a village in the tribally governed Bajur region, said Mohammed Khan, a local government official. No one was hurt.
Khan said armed operatives had recently warned the tailor to stop making Western-style clothes, which they view as un-Islamic.
Men in the lawless tribal belt along the Afghan border traditionally wear simple baggy pants and shirt, while women don an all-covering veil, or burqa, when they leave their homes.
