'Norway secretly aided Israel's nuke program'

Norwegian newspapers said this morning that the Norwegian government knew that the heavy water it supplied Israel with 47 years ago was to be used in Israel's nuclear arms development program. The report was based on a document from the Norwegian Foreign Ministry that was de-classified Tuesday morning, Israel Radio reported. During that time the only other country that held heavy water stockpiles was the United States, which then refused to sell Israel the heavy water. The decision to sell the heavy water to Israel, according to the report, was made exclusively by the Norwegian prime minister and the Labor Party chairman without discussing the matter with the rest of the government.
