China condemns Pakistan bombing at Bhutto's homecoming

China on Friday condemned the massive bombing in Pakistan that narrowly missed killing opposition leader Benazir Bhutto as she launched her political comeback. "China strongly condemns this bombing incident. We hope that social stability in Pakistan can be maintained," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao was quoted as saying in a brief statement posted on the ministry's Web site. The midnight attack on ex-premier Bhutto's homecoming procession killed up to 136 people, making it one of the deadliest bombings in Pakistan's history.
