Canadian postdocs offere

The Canadian-based Azrieli Foundation has decided to spend $1.5 million on bringing outstanding Israeli and Canadian postdoctorate students studying in Canadian institutions of higher learning to conduct advanced research here. The project, due to start with six scholars, is aimed at reducing the Israeli brain drain as well as promoting scientific research in Israeli universities and producing good-will ambassadors when participants return to Canada. The time they spend conducting research in Israel will provide them with valuable tools to realize their professional goals through collaborative association with the Jewish state's world-class academic institutions and researchers, according to Naomi Azrieli, the director of the foundation established by her father, shopping center magnate, architect and philanthropist David J. Azrieli. The Azrieli Fellows, who may undertake postdoctoral research in any field of study, can remain here with generous scholarships for up to two years. Those accepted will be able to do so at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beersheba, the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Tel Aviv University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of Haifa or the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot.
