Australian man charged over anti-Semitic YouTube video

A man who allegedly posted an anti-Semitic video on the popular Web site YouTube has been charged under an Australian state law aimed at combating racism, police and a newspaper said Thursday.
The 38-year-old man from the west coast city of Perth could become the first person convicted under Western Australia state's racial vilification laws enacted four years ago.
The defendant in the YouTube case will appear in a Perth court next Tuesday charged with "conduct likely to entice animosity or racist harassment," state police spokeswoman Susan Usher said.
Under state law, he cannot be identified until he makes his first court appearance. He faces a potential maximum penalty of 14 years in prison plus 24,000 Australian dollars ($18,000) fine if convicted.
