A suicide car bomber detonated his vehicle near a convoy of Afghan police and NATO soldiers on Saturday, injuring two civilians who were walking in the street, an official said.
The attack in the Charkh district of the central Logar province, 60 kilometers (40 miles) south of the capital, Kabul, caused light damage to some of the vehicles in the security patrol, said Abdul Majid Latifi, deputy provincial police chief. Two civilians were injured, he said.
In Kabul, a roadside bomb exploded near an Afghan army jeep, damaging the vehicle but causing no injuries, said Ali Shah Paktiawal, the city's police criminal director. A public bus was also damaged.
Insurgents have stepped up attacks around the country this year, including a record number of suicide and roadside bombs. More than 3,700 people have been killed this year in insurgency-related violence, the highest number since the Taliban's ouster in 2001 by a US-led invasion.
