Dr. Ehud Davidson, a medical administrator in Clalit Health Services, has been named director-general of Soroka University Medical Center in Beersheba, the country’s largest health fund announced on Monday. He will replace Dr. Michael Scherf, who has held the post for six years.
Davidson, married and the father of three, lives in Kfar Saba and graduated from Tel Aviv University’s Sackler Faculty of Medicine. He specialized in internal medicine at the Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in Petah Tikva, which like Soroka is owned by Clalit. He also ran Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba. Scherf will move on to work as a Clalit deputy director-general in charge of the health fund’s hospital division.
Soroka has a catchment area serving all of the South and the Negev. At Clalit, Davidson was involved in recent years in promoting Soroka’s development. He said this experience will help him meet the challenges of being the hospital’s director-general, including in the purchase of advanced technologies, construction and development, and further developing manpower.
