KKL-JNF forests are the only apparatus in Israel that absorbs carbon, thus providing an answer to climate change. Today, forests in Israel absorb about one million tons of carbon per year and help reduce atmospheric damage. This was the message of Dr. Doron Merkel, KKL-JNF Chief Scientist, at yesterday’s Israel Climate Conference.
As the most significant body in Israel in the field of environmental protection, we at KKL-JNF are leading the fight against the climate crisis and are active in a number of areas: Spearheading a strategic plan for solar energy; adapting forests to climate change; establishing facilities to improve the water balance in Israel; leading a campaign to end use of disposable eating utensils;
and more.
The need to save our planet has become an imperative and we will do everything possible to keep it green, clean and healthy for generations to come!
