MK Rosenthal calls on public to write his speeches

Labor MK will give speeches submitted to him online.

Anyone who dreams of giving a speech in the Knesset may now have a chance, thanks to MK Miki Rosenthal (Labor).
While it’s not quite bringing in citizens to speak in the plenum, Rosenthal plans to give one-minute speeches that were submitted to him online.
The Knesset allows MKs to give one-minute speeches on Tuesdays. Speeches will also be allowed on Mondays, the only day for no-confidence votes, if no such votes are introduced.
Rosenthal posted an open call on his Facebook for his supporters to write messages for him to relay.
“This is your chance to express yourselves, what you’re thinking and what bothers you, through me,” Rosenthal wrote. “I call on you to send me 60-80 word texts that I will read in the Knesset, and give credit to whoever sent it.”
Rosenthal will accept submissions on any topic, but asked that they be serious and respectful.“One of the goals I set for myself when I reached the Knesset is to make its work more inclusive for the public, and one way to do that is to let them ‘speak’ in the plenum,” he explained.
According to Rosenthal, allowing the public to take part in the Knesset’s activities will increase its trust in MKs and connect them more to activism and their country.
